On Tuesday night, Manchester United will face Young Boys in Switzerland for the opening match of the 2021-22 Champions League group stage. The Red Devils coming off a 4-1 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday will look to get off to a winning start while Young Boys are coming off a 4-0 win over Zurich in the Swiss Super League. Here is everything you need to know about Young Boys vs Manchester United football prediction, team news, and lineup for the first Champions League match of the season.

Team news

Young Boys

For the visit of Manchester United, Young Boys will be missing not less than five players.

Fabian Lustenberger, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Esteban Petignat, Joel Monteiro, and Nico Mainer have all been ruled out.

Manchester United

Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani are both doubtful, though the former may be able to play against West Ham on Sunday.

For Tuesday’s match Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles, Dean Henderson, and Phil Jones are all out.

In an EPL match against Newcastle, Jesse Lingard scored from the bench but is unlikely to start here.

Fred is expected to return although he did not play in Saturday’s 4-1 victory.

Prediction

Collecting eight points from five games Young Boys have made a strong start to the Swiss Super League season. The Premier League side faced Young Boys and won both games while conceding zero goals in the group stages of the 2018/19 Champions League campaign.

Young Boys have the tools to hurt Manchester United, who gave Newcastle too much space on the counter-attack on Saturday. We expect the home side to score on Tuesday, but we believe the Red Devils will be too strong on the other end, so a 3-1 away win is possible.

Lineup

Young Boys possible starting lineup:

Von Ballmoos; Hefti, Camara, Zesiger, Garcia; Fassnacht, Sierro, Aebischer, Ngamaleu; Elia, Siebatcheu

Manchester United possible starting lineup:

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo

Our Prediction: Young Boys 1-3 Manchester United

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
