Chelsea’s late-season travails continue. They’ve blown a two-goal lead to let Wolves salvage a late draw. Once Lukaku put the Blues 2-0 up to around the hour mark with his second game goal, it felt like there was no way back for Lage’s men. However, the visitors made good changes, with Chiquinho supplying his fellow substitute Trincao and Coady’s header in stoppage time.

Starting lineup:

CHELSEA (3-4-1-2): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta (c), Thiago Silva, Antonio Rüdiger; Reece James, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, Marcos Alonso; Christian Pulisic; Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner.

SUBS: Ross Barkley, Mason Mount, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Saul Níguez, Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr, Hakim Ziyech.

WOLVES (3-5-2): Jose Sa; Willy Boly, Conor Coady (c), Romain Saiss; Jonny, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker, Rayan Ait Nouri; Pedro Neto, Raul Jimenez.

SUBS: Trincao, Marcal, Fabio Silva, Tote Gomes, Chiquinho, John Ruddy, Ki-Jana Hoever, Hwang Hee-Chan, Luke Cundle.

Goals:

1-0. Lukaku steps up and coolly dispatches his penalty kick right down the middle. The Chelsea man’s celebration is muted, but his teammates surround him anyway.

2-0. Chelsea double their lead as Lukaku doubles his tally! Wolves faff around at the back, and Pulisic nips in to win possession. The American slides in Lukaku, who beats Sa with a powerful finish.

2-1. Trincao immediately impacts the bench, cutting inside on his left foot to lash past Mendy from the edge of the D! Chiquinho had sent his fellow substitute scampering off on the counter. Wolves could still nick a point here after all.

GOAL! CHELSEA 2-2 WOLVES! Coady snatches a point for Wolves at the death! The Wolves captain ventures forward as an emergency striker to get on the end of Chiquinho’s cross and nod it into the net from close range! Chelsea look crestfallen.

So, what’s next?

Chelsea faces a nervy last few games to secure their place in the top four, while a European place is a real prospect for Wolves.
