Borussia Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke has commented on the future of striker Erling Haaland. The 20-year-young Bundesliga star is linked to Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City. Speculations about the prolific Norwegian frontman’s future continue to plough on despite Borussia Dortmund’s emphasis that Erling Haaland is not for sale this summer.

Latterly, Mino Raiola agent of the Norwegian made it known that 14 European top clubs are bidding for the forward at once.

Borussia Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has downplayed Raiola’s interview where a few days ago he publicly convinced Barcelona and Real Madrid to purchase the talented striker.

“I am not reading anything like that. I have known Mino for a long time, we get on well with him. And you have to accept his character peculiarities and idiosyncrasies,” said Watzke to Sport1.

“But at the same time, he knows the peculiarities of Borussia. He can give interviews at least every day, for us it is not a problem. Haaland will play for Borussia next season. He is fully committed to the team.”

Watzke added on Haaland, who cheered his teammates to victory over Holstein Kiel in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals on Saturday: “He’s not letting anything get to him and he’s going full throttle. The way he was cheering along in the stands shows how much he identifies with his team. There was also a conflict of interest with Robert Lewandowski back then. We stood firm and Robert accepted that. In the following season, he became the top scorer. I think Erling can do the same.”

Robert Lewandowski before joining domestic rivals Bayern Munich as a free agent spent four seasons with Dortmund between 2010 and 2014.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
