Wan-Bissaka transfer from Man Utd. Only two appearances have been made byfor Manchester United this season, but Erik ten Hag is adamant that the defender will remain with the team. The 25-year-old fullback got his first start in the competition in April when he was included from the start in a Carabao Cup fourth-round match against Burnley, despite having played just four minutes of Premier League action in the 2022–23 season. In a 2-0 victory over the Clarets, Wan-Bissaka put on a respectable performance. Despite rumors of a potential return to Crystal Palace, Ten Hag believes that there are no intentions at Old Trafford to consider leaving with a capable rotation player.
When asked if Wan-Bissaka, who has fallen behind Diogo Dalot in United’s pecking order, is still in his long-term plans, Ten Hag responded to reporters, “Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it is apparent he has a future (here). He’s had some successful years with United, but this season has been difficult for him due to numerous sicknesses and injuries, which has caused him to fall behind. His performance levels are improving, as are his levels of fitness. When you receive an assist, especially the way he did with his movement, the appropriate timing, and the fantastic pass from Bruno, it is always a pleasure (Fernandes). However, this is fantastic, so I’m pleased with his performance. He did well.”
When United snatched Wan-Bissaka away from Palace in the summer of 2019, they bet £50 million ($60 million) on him, but over his three and a half years in Manchester, the former England U21 international has struggled to provide his best. Wan-Bissaka is still in the running for playing time at the moment and will hope to become more prominent throughout the rest of the season. However, there have been rumors that United will look to further strengthen their options at right-back in upcoming transfer windows, with links to Dutch international Denzel Dumfries surfacing once more.
