Juan Carlos Unzue, ex Barcelona assistant coach has announced that he has been diagnosed with motor neuron disorder (MND).
“I maintain that I handle well, I feel fortunate to have led the life I have and now I feel blessed for what I can do about ALS, which is an illness that everyone can get,” Unzue told a Camp Nou news conference.
“Together with the Luzon Foundation, I will try to help improve the living conditions. We want to generate a series of challenges or events that will allow us to raise money for research. Hopefully, we will find a solution in the nearest future.”
Helping the club to win two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey trophies, and the Champions League, Unzue assisted to Luis Enrique at Camp Nou from 2014-17, he also served Barca and Sevilla as a goalkeeper.
