At Villarreal, Unai Emery will replace Javier Calleja after being sacked by Arsenal.
The former manager of the Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Seville signed a three-year contract with the club, which in 2019-20 finished fifth in LaLiga.
After a streak of only one win in all competitions in nine games, Gunners sacked him last November, since this is Emery’s first job.
In 2018 at Emirates Stadium, he replaced Arsene Wenger but disappointed to secure a return to the Champions League, losing the Europa League final 4-1 to Chelsea last year.
At the end of the league season, Javier Calleja left Villarreal after leading them to a return to the Europa League, now Emery substituted the Spain international.
“I don’t t hold any grudge but I’m hurt,” he told El Transistor. “Now it’s the turn of Unai Emery and I hope he takes them as high as possible.”
“I’m hurt by the way this has happened. I would have done it differently.”
