The names of the shortlisted nominees for the 2020/21 UEFA Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year Awards were announced by UEFA in the latest football news. The winner will be declared at the UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony for 2021/22 on Thursday, August 26 at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey.
The shortlists for the men’s and women’s Coach of the Year awards have also been announced. The coaches who had the greatest impact in the previous season will receive the coach of the year award. UEFA will present the UEFA Men’s and UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year Awards on the same occasion.
A jury comprised of 24 coaches from national teams that competed in this summer’s UEFA EURO 2020, as well as 80 coaches from clubs that competed in the group stages of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, selected a shortlist of three players for the men’s player award. The jury also included 55 journalists from each of UEFA’s 55 member associations, chosen by the European Sports Media (ESM) group.
By allocating five, three, and one point to each of them the coaches and journalists were of jury members were asked to choose a shortlist of three players. The final outcome was determined by the total number of votes cast by the coaches and journalists. Coaches were forbidden to vote for players of their own team.
The three players of men’s football who received the most points overall following the conclusion of the voting, in alphabetical order, are:

N’Golo KANTÉ (France – Chelsea FC)
