UEFA disclosed the 23-man Champions League squad of the season, containing just one Serie A player – Atalanta captain Papu Gomez.

Technical Observers panel of UEFA naturally focused more on the teams that made it to the Portuguese Final Eight tourney and selected the list.

Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo was left out in favor of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, although he made the same number of appearances – eight – and scored more goals (four to three).

Making nine appearances on their way to the quarter-final in the tournament, Atalanta captain Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez was the only representative of Serie A.

Bayern Munich won the trophy, in the Final beating PSG.
