To sign the full-back Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur has officially signed a £15 m deal.
Jose Mourinho is considered to have identified the 28-year-old as a top priority in the quest for a substitute for Serge Aurier, whose future has been doubted in recent weeks in north London.
Helping Wolves win promotion from League One all the way to the Premier League, Doherty has spent the last 10 years with the team, but the Daily Mail says he’s on the verge of joining Spurs now.
The move, which is worth an estimated £15 m plus add-ons, is expected to be formally announced in the near future.
After Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart, the Republic of Ireland International will become Tottenham’s third summer signing, his arrival is expected to pave the way for Aurier to leave.
Last season for Wolves Doherty scored seven goals in 50 games and leaves the club to her credit with more than 300 first-team outings.
