Tony Pulis’s idea about Chelsea player Aubameyang is negative. Tony Pulis, a former manager of Crystal Palace, predicts that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be a bench player for Chelsea under Graham Potter. Following the Blues’ 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on December 27, Pulis chatted with Amazon Prime. The Welshman underlined the necessity for depth among the top-four contenders, saying, “You need depth when you are thought of as a top-four Premier League side.”

He went on to say that Chelsea had perhaps purchased Aubameyang more as cover than as a star player for the team: I genuinely do think they bought Aubameyang more as cover than anything else. From being very good, he has since fallen just beyond the hilltop.”

Aubameyang can still make a difference for Potter’s team, according to Pulis, but it will probably be in a supporting role: He’ll enter the game and score goals. He won’t be the main character anymore, but I’m sure he’ll contribute something throughout the season. Patrice E. Aubameyang on Chelsea’s infamous No. 9 jersey: I have no idea because I don’t listen to such things. I chose it because I adore the number 9. I’m pleased with it and intend to score many more.

On the final day of the transfer window in the summer, Aubameyang transferred from Barcelona to Chelsea for £10 million. While Thomas Tuchel, the striker’s former Borussia Dortmund manager, was still in charge at Stamford Bridge, the Gabonese forward was signed. Three days after the 33-year-club old’s debut in a demoralizing 1-0 loss to Dynamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League, the German manager lost his job.

Aubameyang had a bright start to life under Potter, the English tactician who succeeded Tuchel the following week, scoring three goals in four games. But since moving from Camp Nou, he has lost steam and has only scored three goals and one assist in 13 games. In the victory over Bournemouth, he saw just eight minutes of action, so his playing time might be in jeopardy.
