Luis Suarez began on the Atletico bench but quickly made his impact by releasing Marcos Llorente with excellent first touch and creating a first-time finish to score the fourth, after finishing a move from Barcelona on Friday.
Following a cross from Llorente, the Uruguayan then aimed a towering header into the net before hitting in added time again in the 86th minute.
While Saul Niguez had a penalty saved later in the first half Atletico had seized control of the game with a Diego Costa header in the ninth minute.
After the break with goals from Angel Correa and Joao Felix, the home side took the game out of Granada’s control.
Jorge Molina scored a consolation goal for Granada in the 86 minute before Suarez quickly regained Atletico’s five-goal lead.
