Stuart Pearce criticizesamid Wolverhampton performance. Following his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, former Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce criticized star winger Antony of Manchester United (31 December). Marcus Rashford’s goal for the Red Devils after coming off the bench gave them a 1-0 victory. Erik ten Hag benched the talented Manchester United forward when he was late for a team meeting, but he still helped his club to a crucial victory.
The Brazilian loses the ball too frequently and is unable to track back, according to the former Nottingham Forest defender. “Antony has got no intention of tracking back, Wolves can get a lot of joy down that side,” the former Manchester City defender told talkSPORT. Antony has been ineffective because he has lost the ball far too frequently.
Pearce has admitted that the winger for Manchester United’s body language irritates him. He said, “He annoys the life out of me. Every time he receives the ball, he instructs his teammates by pointing to them. He would be a tremendously good player, according to (Erik) Ten Hag and (Bruno) Fernandes, whom I recently witnessed. He’s talking a lot more than he’s listening right now, for sure.”
Antony struggled against the Wolves since he didn’t complete a single dribble. Additionally, he misplaced the ball twice and only completed 30 of the 42 passes he tried. In 14 games for Manchester United, the Brazillian international has scored just three times, and it has been nine days since his last goal. The 22-year-old was acquired by the Red Devils from Ajax in August for a fee of £81.3 million; but, contract-related add-ons could bring the total to £85.5 million.
Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has pushed Harry Maguire to look for employment elsewhere. The captain of Manchester United was not starting for the Red Devils on Saturday when they traveled to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ferdinand has suggested that Maguire looks for a transfer because Luke Shaw is currently starting at center-back in place of the England international. Ferdinand stated the following on BT Sport: “It made you wonder what Ten Hag thought of Lindelof and Maguire when you saw them sitting on the bench. If I were Harry Maguire, I would currently be looking for a new club. He is perfect for England. It hasn’t worked out for him at Man United. He is being shown by this new management that he will not be one of the top two center-backs. I would ask my agency to get a new team where I might play frequently and take pleasure in my sport.”
