In an attempt to climb out of the relegation zone as West Brom resorted to a drastic move, Slaven Bilic became the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season.

Sam Allardyce is the key candidate to fill the vacancy, with West Brom claiming that, due to his experience and know-how, the 66-year-old will lead the club to safety.

Allardyce, a Dudley native, has led seven clubs in the Premier League and has never been relegated. He was due to host a tea-time show on Wednesday on TalkSport but pulled out of the engagement.

In a brief statement, the club announced the decision to fire Bilic. “Today, West Bromwich Albion parted company with head coach Slaven Bilic. Dean Racunica and Danilo Butorovic’s assistant coaches and first-team coach Julian Dicks have also left the club with immediate effect.”

“The Baggies are currently 19th in the Premier League table with seven points from 13 fixtures. Albion would like to thank Slaven and his coaching staff for their efforts in achieving promotion last season and wishes them all well in the future.”

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
