Serie A

Sampdoria 1-3 Juventus

Juventus move within four points of Milan at the top of Serie A after beating Sampdoria 3-1.

A brace from Alvaro Morata and an own goal from Yoshida was enough to secure the three points for Bianconeri.

The home side did push in the second half and reduced the deficit courtesy of a deflected strike from Abdelhamid Sabiri even after Antonio Candreva saw a penalty saved by Wojciech Szczesny.

However, Morata notched his second to ice the game in the dying stages. Juve has now won three on the bounce in Serie A.

While Sampdoria has lost their last three and remains in a problematic position near the relegation zone.

Goals:

1-0 JUVE. The visitors break on the counter down the right flank through Cuadrado, and his cross is turned over the line by Yoshida on the slide. Cuadrado’s cross angles towards the run of Kean at the back post, so Yoshida has to act, but he cannot steer his clearance away from the Sampdoria net.

2-0 JUVE. The Spaniard fires his effort into the top-left corner to double Juve’s advantage. Morata sends Falcone the wrong way with a clinical blast on his right foot.

2-1 SAMPDORIA. The home side is back in the game as Sabiri’s free-kick from a distance strikes Morata in the wall before looping past Szczesny. Sabiri’s effort is not the best as it slams into Morata, but it wrong-foots Szczesny, who cannot get across to his right to prevent the ball from finding the bottom-left corner.
