Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has shared his opinion about Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Juventus.
“I’m sure Cristiano is insanely motivated. The reason is not that he has scored more or less than anyone else. He especially gives himself to the game when he plays for the national team. I am sure he will come to us with the same ambition, not thinking about personal goals, but fulfilling the team’s objectives,” Santos said to A Bola.
“I know he has a big dream – to qualify for the World Cup, play in it and win the tournament. That’s the main goal, and everything else is no longer about the national team.”
Ronaldo is currently second on the list of top goal scorers in national team history. The forward has 102 goals for Portugal. Former Iranian striker Ali Daei has scored 109 goals.
Portugal will play Azerbaijan, Serbia and Luxembourg in March.
