PSG repaired the ship after going behind and wind up deserved winners, beating Saint-Etienne by a comfortable 3-1 score.

Bouanga’s opening goal a quarter-hour into the match was cancelled out three minutes from half-time by Mbappe, who would go on to give his side the lead just two minutes after the restart.

However, the France international was not over yet, providing a lovely assist with the outside of his right foot for Pereira, who gave the hosts an unassailable lead.

Dupraz will be disappointed with his side, which could take the lead but squandered the opportunity to make it five matches in a row unbeaten quite quickly.

The win takes PSG 16 points above Nice in second, while Saint-Etienne stays 16th.

1-0. Pereira’s mistake gives the visitors the lead as Dawdling in possession of the ball outside the 18-yard box catches the midfielder unaware. Then, without a shout from a teammate, Bouanga comes through and steals the ball before coolly slotting past Donnarumma.

1-1. Messi picks up possession on the right-wing and steps inside before playing a lovely pass into the penalty area for Mbappe, who reads his teammate’s intentions and gets ahead of his man to receive the pass. From there, the striker turns at fires at Bernardoni, who lets the powerful effort go through his hands and in!

2-1. It’s two for PSG and two for Mbappe as Messi’s pass inside the penalty area – seemingly originally intended for Di Maria – is received by the charging France international, who takes a touch before beating Bernardoni.

3-1. A potential point is drifting further away from the visitors as Pereira atones for his earlier mistake, getting on the end of Mbappe’s cross with the outside of his right foot and powering his header high into the goal.

So, where else do PSG and Saint-Etienne go from here?

PSG travel to face Nice next Saturday in Ligue 1, while Saint-Etienne returns home to host Metz on Sunday.
