Liverpool is aiming to win the Champions League, said midfielder Sadio Mane admitting the fight for the English title is over.

“At the start of the season, we were aiming for the Champions League, the Premier League, and the cup competitions. I can say it’s over for us in the Premier League at the moment because the gap is too big. We mentally tell ourselves never to give up, and we won’t,” Mane said to ESPN.

“But, of course, Manchester City is a great team, getting into the top 4 now is our main goal. And the Champions League. We know it won’t be easy because we will have to beat the best teams in Europe. But that is what we are here for if that is possible.”

“So we will try to win the Champions League.”

Liverpool is currently in 6th place with 40 points after 25 rounds in the EPL standings. They are 19 points behind leaders Manchester City.

The club defeated RB Leipzig 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last eight in a nominal away game. The return leg takes place on 10 March.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
