Roy Keane says Hakim Ziyech looks different at World Cup. At the current FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech has reportedly been compared to another level by Manchester United veteran Roy Keane. The Moroccan winger struggles in the Premier League, but does better when playing for the national squad, he continued. Ziyech, who this year assisted Morocco in reaching the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup, will take on Portugal on Saturday (December 10). In four games, he has one goal and one assist to his credit.

At Chelsea, the winger has struggled more often than not to crack the starting lineup. Speaking to Sky Bet, Keane asserted that Ziyech performs better with the national side since their playing style is more appropriate for him. In this tournament, he claimed, Morocco has been tenacious, powerful, and aggressive, sitting deep yet doing well when they get the ball. They have been great, and I wasn’t expecting it.

It’s a different environment, sometimes players struggle at the club level, but the World Cup and international football can fit other personalities better, he continued, adding that Hakim Ziyech seems to be a different player. Ziyech looks like a huge personality for Morocco, yet you don’t see that at the club level for Chełsea. Ziyech has played just 270 minutes over nine games in all competitions for Chelsea this season.

Joe Cole, a former player for the Blues, acknowledged that the Moroccan seems happy while competing for his country, stating, “He just appears like a happier player for Morocco.” He has struggled greatly at Chelsea and has been unable to find his rhythm. He doesn’t fit in with the Premier League. It’s aggressive and fluctuates. He said, “While playing for Ajax, he could hug the touchline and the team would play through the lines very much. Give him the ball, and he’s got a great left foot, comes inside, and delivers the ball.

However, when we’ve watched him play here in Qatar, he’s been intense while also grinning. Ziyech is a gifted young man, but Chelsea hasn’t been the right fit for him. Ziyech has made only one Premier League start for the Blues this year and has yet to score or provide an assist. Since joining Chelsea from Ajax in 2020, he has participated in 92 games, with 14 goals and 10 assists.
