Ronald Koeman, who leads Barcelona has opened up about the financial problems the club is undergoing.

Barcelona is almost €1.2 billion in debt, states the club’s annual financial report.

There have also been records that the Catalan club is in arrears on wage payments. Reportedly, Barca also failed to pay players for six months in December, even though they took out a loan.

“Clubs are suffering losses because of the coronavirus. Barcelona are also suffering because there are no tourists. All clubs are having a pretty bad financial performance right now. This situation is not only here,” quotes Koeman Marca.

“I do not think this issue has any effect on the players. We have all helped the club by agreeing to lower wages.”

“I don’t know if it’s true [salary delays]. It needs to be clarified. In the meantime, I cannot answer such questions.”

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
