Sergio Ramos would not be given a contract extension for more than one year as Real Madrid is not prepared for it.

Adding seven goals in 34 appearances to Zinedine Zidane’s side, Ramos was once again in excellent form during the 2019-20 campaign.

The 34-year-old made 640 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, winning two Copa del Reys,  four La Liga trophies, and four Champions League championships during his tenure in Bernabeu.

The captain of the club will be exiting the deal at the end of next season, but according to Mundo Deportivo, the club is only prepared to sign an extension until the summer of 2022.

Ramos was closely linked to the transfer to the Chinese Super League in the run-up to the 2019-20 season but eventually stayed in the Spanish capital.
