Rafael van der Vaart sees no reason why Captain Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid would even envisage slowing down.
The former Real Madrid team-mate Rafael van der Vaart finds Sergio Ramos as the world’s best defender and can continue playing until he’s 40.
Real Madrid was helped by Ramos in ending the LaLiga success story of Barcelona, scoring 11 goals as the squad of Zinedine Zidane was first crowned champions since 2017.
In 2005 the Spaniard was signed as a teenager from Seville and was still young when Van der Vaart joined the club.
Before joining Tottenham in 2010 Vaart spent two seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, the Dutchman is impressed by how Ramos has matured having watched as his old club secured the title again.
Vaart took his physical condition into consideration and sees no reason why the 34-year-old should be thinking of retiring soon.
“For me, he is the best defender in the world,” Van der Vaart told Stats Perform News as part of the UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour.
“When I was watching a game the other day, I thought, ‘how old is he? 34?’ I believe he can still be playing for another six years, I’ve so much respect for him.”
