Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is possible to return to Tottenham Hotspur. Sky Sports reported on Thursday that now in charge of PSG, Pochettino is discussing a possible return to Premier League club Tottenham, as his team failed to defend the Ligue 1 title this season.
Pochettino was hired by PSG in January until June 2022 on contract. Since joining the Parisians, the 49-year-old helped the club win the French Cup and Super Cup. The Paris club crashed out of the Champions League at the 1/2 final stage. The Argentine’s contract with the French giant runs for another year and the club is unwilling to change coaches again as Thomas Tuchel left the club only a few months ago.
Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019 after reaching the Champions League final last season. According to The Athletic, the London club is in talks with the Argentine specialist. Spurs president Daniel Levy is a supporter of the 49-year-old’s option as he wants to build a relationship with the fans. The North London club finished seventh this season with interim manager Ryan Mason after Jose Mourinho was sacked in April, a few days before the League Cup final.
Pochettino has realised that his role at PSG is far inferior to the one he had at Tottenham, however, he was excited about the opportunity to work with a European top club. He faces the same internal club problems as Thomas Tuchel did at PSG before him.
Pochettino’s PSG ended the season with only one major trophy, the French Cup, after losing the league title to Lille by one point and falling to the Champions League semi-finals.
Last year, they claimed the final of the French Cup, the Ligue 1 title, the League Cup and reached the final of the Champions League.
