Paris Saint-Germain overcame an early setback against Troyes to win their Ligue 1 opener after a disappointing season last year. PSG beats Troyes opening their Ligue 1 campaign with a 2-1 victory.

With a header from Oualid El Hajjam, the hosts took the lead in the ninth minute but their joy was cut short 10 minutes later when Achraf Hakimi scored his first goal for his new club. In football scores today just two minutes later scoring the game-winning goal Mauro Icardi doubled the lead taking the scoresheet to 2-1, poking past goalkeeper Gauthier Gallon after good work from Kylian Mbappe.

Despite speculation about Lionel Messi‘s possible arrival in Paris, Mauricio Pochettino’s side started positively on the field as they look to reclaim the Ligue 1 title they have won seven of the last nine seasons.

When Icardi added a second the hosts’ fortunes quickly deteriorated. Mbappe thought he had scored when he rounded Gallon and curled towards goal, only to be denied by a goal-line clearance from Jimmy Giraudon.

To keep out a drilled strike that appeared destined for the net Renaud Ripart forced Navas into a smart reflex save, while Mama Balde’s daring acrobatics had the PSG goalkeeper scrambling after the break. Back-to-back chances for the visitors to seal the game followed, but neither went in, with Icardi flicking a header wide and Mbappe bending a shot narrowly over the crossbar.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
