Those who lost their lives suffering coronavirus will be remembered with a minute’s silence, before each match in the first round of the restarted Premier League.

On Thursday’s top-flight club meeting various support initiatives for the Black Lives Matter movement were decided and heart-shaped badges would be embroidered into a team kit paying tribute to NHS staff.

Following an initiative driven this week by club captains the names on the back of players’ shirts will be replaced by the words Black Lives Matter for at least the first set of games. As some clubs have done before recent games, if players or teams want to knee ahead of games, the league will have no problem, claims The Guardian.

One club explained that they had trained their kit workers to order shirts that interpreted the move.

Black Lives Matter badges, along with their NHS equivalents, are also likely to be displayed on shirts, although their exact placement is yet to be finalized.
