Premier League overview: Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea won

Three teams of the English Premier League (EPL) won their matches on Saturday making the football tournament more intense and competitive as they move ahead for the title race. We have noted down the Premier League overview of the matches played on matchday 16.

To maintain a one-point lead at the top of the points table Manchester City defeated Wolverhampton 1-0 at home. The lone goal of the game was scored by Raheem Sterling on a penalty in the 66th minute. With this Sterling hits the mark of 100 goals in the league.

Mohamed Salah’s penalty goal in the 67th minute helped Liverpool beat Aston Villa by a 1-0 match score. The Reds are standing in 2nd position, one point ahead of third placed Chelsea who smashed Leeds United 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

In the fourth minute of second-half injury time, Jorginho ensured Chelsea’s victory by scoring a penalty. Leeds took the lead in the 28th minute with a penalty scored by Rafinha but Mason Mount equalized the scoreboard in the 42nd minute.

Jorginho scored a penalty in the 58th minute to give Chelsea the lead but Joe Gelhardt leveled up the score 2-2 in the 83rd minute. To give Chelsea victory Jorginho scored another penalty in the final moments. City have 38 points from 16 matches and are on top. Liverpool and Chelsea also have 37 and 36 points respectively in the same number of matches.
