Liverpool can certainly secure a top-four finish with a victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, due to their superior goal difference and the Reds’ recent form. The match against Liverpool will be Roy Hodgson’s last game as Crystal Palace boss. The Selhurst-based club will visit Anfield where Jurgen Klopp’s side is expected to secure their place in the Champions League for next season. Here’s everything need to know about Liverpool vs Crystal Palace last match of 2021 Premier League season.

Team news

Liverpool lineup: Alisson, Robertson, Williams, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Firmino, Mane, Salah.

The starting lineup from Wednesday’s 3-0 victory over Burnley would be same Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace.

Diogo Jota may return for Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, but he will only be on the bench due to injury.

Curtis Jones or James Milner are the only midfield options, but Klopp will almost certainly go with Georginio Wijnaldum in what may be his last game for the club.

Crystal Palace lineup: Guaita, Ward, Tomkins, Cahill, Mitchell, Kouyate, Townsend, Schlupp, McCarthy, Zaha, Benteke.

Christian Benteke’s participation is dubious for Sunday’s match against his former side, and Roy Hodgson does not want to gamble the striker with anything to lose and the Euros just around the corner.

While Wilfried Zaha could switch to the middle, Benteke’s replacements are Jean-Philippe Mateta or Jordan Ayew.

Patrick van Aanholt may take over at Anfield but on the other hand, Tyrick Mitchell is also questionable for the Eagles, but Hodgson thinks it’s more likely to be exhaustion than an injury.

For the midweek loss to Arsenal, Luka Milivojevic was unavailable due to personal reasons, but he may return here.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Liverpool can reach the third position if they beat Chelsea or can finish in the top four if the Reds equal Leicester’s result on the final day.

Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 3-1 on Wednesday. In Sunday’s match, Roy Hodgson will coach Crystal Palace for the last time before stepping down.

In the reverse fixture, Liverpool defeated Palace with 7-0 score, and they have conceded four goals in each of their last two visits to Anfield. It may not be the appropriate farewell for Hodgson.

On 22 goals, Salah is tied with fellow Golden Boot contender Harry Kane, and this appears to be a strong chance for him to outscore his Tottenham rival.

Our Prediction: Liverpool 2 – 0 Crystal Palace

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
