10 Jackson Martinez – €35m (Atletico Madrid 2015): Jackson Martinez played in 90 games for Porto in the Primeira Liga while playing for Chiapas of Mexico in exchange for €8.8 million over the course of three seasons. In a Champions League group stage match against Shakhtar in 2014–15, the Colombian’s best performance came as a substitute. At the end of that campaign, Atletico Madrid came knocking and demanded a hefty €35m for him.

9 Andre Silva – €38m (AC Milan 2017): Before AC Milan came knocking and agreed to pay a €38m fee for the Portuguese striker, Silva played 41 times for Porto over the course of two years, scoring 17 goals. Before RB Leipzig purchased him for €23 million in the summer of 2021, Frankfurt planned to sign him permanently in September 2020.

8 Fabio Silva – €40m (Wolves 2020): Silva’s breakthrough season in 2019–20 saw just 12 league games as he split time between the first and reserve teams. After that lone season with the first squad, Porto struck gold when Wolves of the Premier League agreed to sign the striker for a club-record €40 million.

7 Radamel Falcao – €40m (Atletico Madrid 2011): From his time at River Plate, when he made 111 appearances in all competitions over five years and scored 45 goals, Radamel Falcao’s name was creating ripples in European football. Early in 2009, Porto’s scouting team began keeping an eye on Falcao. In the summer of that year, after selling Lisandro Lopez to Lyon for €24 million, they acquired him for €3.93 million. The first team to seize the chance to get him in 2011 was Atletico Madrid, who paid €40 million to do so.

6 Hulk – €40m (Zenit 2012): In 2008, Hulk transferred from the Japanese team Tokyo Verdy to Porto after the Portuguese club paid €5.5 million for half of his playing rights. Hulk became a legend at Porto between 2008 and 2012 by scoring 54 goals in 99 games, several of which were magnificent. Zenit, a powerful Russian club, expressed interest in the Brazilian forward in 2012 and agreed to pay Porto a premium of €40 million.

5 Vitinha – €41.5m (PSG 2022): Vitinha made his senior debut in 2020 at Porto after moving up the ranks. He made 38 appearances over two seasons while contributing two goals.
