Thiago Alcantara has been tipped to adapt well to the Premier League by Per Mertesacker, longtime Arsenal defender who cautioned that the Bayern Munich player will have work to do to become a Liverpool starter.
“I can imagine the move, but the Liverpool midfield axis is being built up,” Mertesacker told Goal and SPOX.
“It’s really difficult to get in there because he’s a great player who will compete everywhere. He wouldn’t have any concerns with England’s style of play either since he’s a well-trained footballer.”
“He needs to adjust to hit a central defender and sometimes do a 40-meter sprint but he can. He has to decide about himself, as he may well not be playing a significant part in Liverpool’s first games. Despite their successes over the past two years, there are only a few players ahead of him.”
