Pep Guardiola to consider fuzzy ideas for Manchester Derby. For the Manchester Derby, Pep Guardiola is pondering some “crazy” ideas. Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has claimed that he will turn to outlandish strategies for his team’s next Manchester derby matchup with Manchester United. The Spanish manager also acknowledged that he has not yet chosen his starting lineup for the game.

Guardiola remarked: “I have a few ideas, thoughts – absurd ones against United – but nonetheless, I didn’t study their past games” before City’s Premier League match against the Red Devils on January 14. I need to observe how they play at home and determine if they make any changes. I still need to study it, so I don’t yet have a set starting lineup vs United.

Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, among other important players, were rested for City’s FA Cup victory over Chelsea on January 8 following their league match just two days earlier, according to Guardiola.

The Spanish manager explained that he needed fresh legs for the Manchester derby and continued, “I made a lot of changes in the [Cup] game against Chelsea for one reason: how weary I observed some players after the game [in London], after the travel. We got back too late, and the players looked worn out in training the next day. It also relies on the individuals who sat out the match against Chelsea. I would prefer to arrive against Manchester United with the players’ average number of minutes on the field being somewhat comparable.

Manager Erik ten Hag, who Manchester United hired from Ajax last summer, has had a fantastic season thus far. The Red Devils are currently in fourth place in the league standings, two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.
