Pele has refused to change his Instagram bio as Cristiano Ronaldo reached his haul of 757 goals in official competitions.
Pele was accused of referring to his unofficial goal count of 1,283, but he denies that after Cristiano Ronaldo exceeded his official haul.
Maintaining that he is not seeking to detract from Ronaldo and Messi’s accomplishments the 80-year-old has denied the allegation.
“I was accused by the press of having changed my Instagram bio to overshadow these big stars that are breaking my records,” Pele posted on Twitter.
“The bio text has always been the same since I joined the platform. None of this should distract us from their incredible achievements.”
