To give the Red Devils a penalty former Manchester United striker Michael Owen struck out at Mike Dean’s decision in their 9-0 drubbing of Southampton on Tuesday night.
Owen can not believe that the ensuing penalty was awarded, converted by Bruno Fernandes and the seventh goal of United came in controversial fashion as Anthony Martial was adjudged by Jan Bednarek, who was subsequently sent off, to have been fouled in the area.
Owen tweeted: “That absolutely sums things up. The best thing is it hardly matters. But if that’s a pen then the game has officially gone. The biggest example of a dive I’ve seen in ages. Shambles.”
