In Serie A there will still be relegations and promotions with 20 teams if the season ends early, this was decided today in the meeting of Italian football unions, according to Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia).
Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora has warned Serie A until the medical procedure is fully decided they will not be permitted to resume.
As of May 4, the COVID-19 pandemic moves into Phase Two with deaths, intensive care admissions, and positive cases all falling rapidly.
Today a videoconference took place among diverse organizations, including the Players’ Association, Coaches’ Association, Referees’ Association, and FIGC.
The video conference resulted in Plan B, if the season terminated soon, there will be promotions and relegations this summer.
This assumes the Serie A season will tend to have 20 clubs next year, because there was an option not to elevate anyone and promote two from Serie B, establishing a 22-side structure.
Another repercussion was that if UEFA changes its August 2 deadline to finish domestic tournaments, then they’re able to start the 2019-20 season well into August and even September.
