UEFA and FIFA disapproves of Super League

A new competition named European Super League was announced during the late evening hours of Sunday. ESL is an elite and closed competition of the 20 richest clubs who agreed to form a breakaway. It is said that this tournament practically destroys the UEFA Champions League, hence, UEFA and FIFA disapproves of Super League. Real, Milan, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have announced that they have reached an agreement to create a new competition.

Uefa has fiercely responded to the announcement by 12 European clubs to launch the Super League. After the IO meeting in Montreux severe penalties for footballers who will play in the Super League, Aleksander Čeferin, the president of Uefa, announced: “Footballers associated with the Super League will not be able to play for their national teams. They will be banned from playing in the European Championships and the World Cup.”

UEFA insisted that all the clubs connected with European Super League and their players would be prohibited from all other competitions at domestic, European, or world level and could be excluded from representing their national teams.

Uefa has threatened with this because it is with it, and against the Super League, and FIFA, so the stars of clubs separated from the European and world football federations will be left without the representative competitions they organize, ie the European Championship and the World Cup.

Along with UEFA, FIFA also opposed the European Super League

“In view of several media requests and as already stated several times, FIFA wishes to clarify that it stands firm in favor of solidarity in football and an equitable redistribution model which can help develop football as a sport, particularly at global level, since the development of global football is the primary mission of FIFA,” read their statement.

“In our view, and in accordance with our statutes, any football competition, whether national, regional, or global, should always reflect the core principles of solidarity, inclusivity, integrity, and equitable financial redistribution. Moreover, the governing bodies of football should employ all lawful, sporting, and diplomatic means to ensure this remains the case. Against this background, FIFA can only express its disapproval of a “closed European breakaway league” outside of the international football structures and not respecting the aforementioned principles.

“FIFA always stands for unity in world football and calls on all parties involved in heated discussions to engage in calm, constructive, and balanced dialogue for the good of the game and in the spirit of solidarity and fair play. FIFA will, of course, do whatever is necessary to contribute to a harmonized way forward in the overall interests of football.”
