Neville on Man Utd’s Cup exit: I am depressed as a United fan

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has given his perception about the team’s FA Cup exit from Leicester (1-3).

“Of course, second place at the start of the season seemed like a priority, but the title is the real goal. Now all that’s left is the Europa League,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Leicester is performing well, I listened to the match broadcast on the radio. Man Utd starts losing and you think, “Let’s go!” And then it doesn’t surprise you that United, back in the game, concede a second and third goal. They seem to have missed a big chance.”

“As a United fan, I’m a bit depressed because I thought the team had a good chance at the Cup this season. Going through further would have allowed them to play Manchester City. You need to beat them in a big tournament to try and reach their level.”

“Tottenham will have that opportunity in a few weeks in the League Cup. Of course, they still need to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals. Manchester United could be waiting for them in the final. You can’t rely on other teams to stop City.”

“If you are England’s second team, you have normal stats in games with City, and Solskjaer has exactly that, then you should be there and be the team to stop them.”

“It’s the same in the Championship, you can’t rely on other teams to stop them. The match against Leicester frustrated me. I know Man United fans were upset as well. I saw how they reacted to the game on social media.”
