Manchester City beat Borussia with Phil Foden’s late strike

Manchester City’s hopes to reach the Champions League semi-finals has increased as Phil Foden’s late strike brought a victory for the club. Manchester City beat Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals leg 1 of 2.

Marco Reus canceled Kevin De Bruyne’s opener but Foden took a 2-1 lead over the opponents.

Kevin De Bruyne started and finished a quick move to bring City ahead in the 19th minute, but Dortmund was unlucky to be trailing at halftime after referee Ovidiu Hategan punished Jude Bellingham for a legitimate challenge on Ederson.

City eventually found their stride in the final quarter of the game, despite Foden appearing to be the villain after missing two golden opportunities before Bellingham and Erling Haaland combined for Reus to coolly equalize six minutes from time.

England youngster Foden kept his composure in the 90th minute as Ilkay Gundogan knocked down De Bruyne’s majestic cross.

Phil Foden gave Manchester City a slim 2-1 Champions League quarter-final advantage over Borussia Dortmund.
