In 2017, Semedo moved from the Portuguese club to Barcelona but is now set to depart Camp Nou.
The right-back’s current contract extension past its 2022 expiry date has recently broken down and Semedo is now on sale this summer.
Clubs across Europe are attracted to the 26-year-old, but he’d rather go back to a familiar environment.
Semedo told Benfica’s club media, “I’d like to return to a time where I could give everything and help the team, not only to earn money like other people.”
“It was indescribable,” he said.
“Being champions with the club of your heart is a great satisfaction.
“It’s a dream come true. It was spectacular.”
“[Benfica] gave us good values as players and as men.”
Nelson won two Primeira Liga titles as well as other major trophies, during his time with Benfica.
Semedo is one of those who could be used to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter in a deal, so it doesn’t seem like he’s going back to Benfica any time soon.
