Real Madrid centerman Luka Modric shared his point of view on Gareth Bale’s transfer saga, speaking to the British newspaper The Times.

While Los Blancos wants to part ways with the Welshman, no matter his role and minutes Bale seems to have decided to stay until the very end of his contract.

“We’ve played together for the last 12 years and it’s a tough situation both for Bale and the club. Bale needs to know what he wants to do, he’s a grown man and needs to decide what’s best for him. Is he happy here or does he want to try something else? For me, he’s still a great player who has a lot to offer to the world of football. It’s up to him, if he is hungry enough to keep going, I think he is. Whatever happens, he can still be an important player,” said Modric.

Making Bale responsible for his decision the veteran midfielder did an excellent job of dealing with this issue, while still recognizing him as a great football player.

Modric also talked about playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the last decade.

“Playing with him was amazing, we enjoyed seven amazing years together, won so many things with him on our team, and even when you weren’t in the best form Cristiano could still win you the game with his attitude and his skills and quality. Everything was special about him, the way he worked hard on training and that’s why you can expect something special from him even when things aren’t going the right way,” he explained.

Modric will enter the final season on his contract, but after his good performance for the team following the pandemic Real Madrid is expected to offer him a new deal.
