Miedema suffered ACL injury and will undergo surgery. According to Vivianne Miedema, an injury sustained by Arsenal during their Champions League match against Lyon was anterior ligament damage. At the Emirates Stadium on December 15, the Netherlands international had a significant decline in fitness. Now that it has been made known that surgery would be necessary, the talented 26-year-old is getting ready to go on a protracted road to recovery.

We can announce that Vivianne Miedema ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament during our UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter against Lyon at Emirates Stadium on Thursday, according to a statement on the club’s official website. Viv will have surgery soon and, regrettably, be sidelined for a considerable amount of time as a result. Once the procedure is finished, a more precise timetable will be established. The entire Arsenal staff wishes Viv luck on her road to recovery and will provide her with all the assistance she needs to get back to work as soon as possible.

In a tearful social media message, Miedema said, “Absolutely gutted to share I tore my ACL in our last game versus Lyon. I had one of those instants when I felt certain. There are so many things running through your mind: I won’t be able to help my team this season; there won’t be a World Cup; I’ll need surgery and extensive recovery. I won’t be promising you that I’ll return stronger or that I’m eager to spend the upcoming months working out. It will be challenging, with many challenging days and lots of sobbing, which we’ve already seen a lot of, but regrettably, it’s part of football.

When the 2023 Women’s World Cup is not scheduled to begin until July 20, 2023, Miedema’s partner, England player Beth Mead, sustained an ACL injury while playing against Manchester United in November. As a result, the pair will be rehabilitated together.
