Michael Owen, former England forward has shared his opinion about Manchester United’s approach to striker transfers.
“If you look at Manchester United’s recent past, they signed a lot of players who came to the club at the end of their career. Look at Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Van Persie, Henrik Larsson,” Owen said for Stadium Astro.
“Man Utd are appealing to players at the very end of their careers. Rooney is the last forward they bought at the beginning of [a player’s] career. At least in that case you have a player who will play at the club for 10 years.”
“At the moment, Man Utd are struggling to find the kind of young player who will occupy the nines position for a long time. I think one player that comes to mind that could play for them for 10 years and save them from having to constantly buy temporary options [to strengthen the attack] is Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. He’s on everyone’s radar right now.”
