Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for coronavirus.

A day before their Nations League match against Croatia the 21-year-old returned to a positive test and has left the France squad

With Lens, Marseille, Metz, and Nice as he enters a period of quarantine, Mbappe is also expected to be unavailable for PSG’s Ligue 1 matches.

The former Monaco man was expected to play against Croatia, having shaken off an ankle injury sustained in last week’s 1-0 win over Sweden.

“Kylian Mbappe’s going to miss the game against Croatia,” France confirmed Monday in a short Twitter statement.

“His COVID-19 test-done this morning by UEFA-was positive, and he was isolated from the rest of the squad.”

Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and midfielder Houssem Aouar had already left the France squad after testing positively for COVID-19.

Shortly before Didier Deschamps’ latest group was announced, having returned a positive test too, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba had to withdraw.

Meanwhile, among those players who are going through pre-season preparations, PSG has had six confirmed cases of the virus.

Thomas Tuchel ‘s side is scheduled to start their Ligue 1 title defense against Lens on Thursday in a match that was pushed back after PSG reached the August Champions League final.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
