Tammy Abraham, a former Chelsea striker, is reportedly wanted by Manchester United from AS Roma. The Mirror reports that the incoming manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, may decide to raid Roma, the current club of the team’s former manager, Jose Mourinho. According to rumors, the Red Devils are considering Tammy Abraham to help them with their offensive problems.

With Cristiano Ronaldo well into the latter stages of his career, United was eager to buy a No. 9 during the summer transfer window earlier this year. They refrained from making a major move for a new striker, though, due to Anthony Martial’s resurgence in the preseason. However, although Ronaldo is only a pale imitation of his former self, the Frenchman has struggled with persistent injury problems.

The Portuguese have frequently hindered the team’s efforts because they lack the intensity required by Ten Hag’s system. This season, he has only made two Premier League starts and one goal. This season, he has only added one more goal, which came against FC Sherif in the Europa League.

The 37-year-old was also actively seeking a team to play for in the UEFA Champions League this summer. Even though clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid were on the list of those interested in signing him, his agent Jorge Mendes was unable to locate one. As a result, Ten Hag has made it a priority to sign a center forward, and Abraham’s name has come up.

Tammy Abraham was acquired by Roma from Chelsea in the 2021 summer transfer window for €40 million. The England international scored 27 goals for the Italian giants in various competitions after arriving in Rome. The current campaign, though, hasn’t quite gone according to plan, and he’s only managed two goals in 13 games across all competitions.

The aforementioned Mirror article indicates Roma will not want to move him in January despite the fact that he still has four years left on his deal with the club. It’s unclear whether Manchester United will go all-out for Abraham or focus on other players with greater versatility, such as Cody Gakpo.
