Manchester United enters the semi-finals of the Europa League, after a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Danish team Copenhagen following extra time.

For most of the first half United was bad in the heat of Cologne but nevertheless saw a signal modified and the Video Assistant Referee called out a goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team established and dominated the other half but could find a little way past encouraging goalie Karl-Johan Johnsson, each hitting the post with Fernandes and Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford having disallowed each effort.

It took Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to crack the deadlock until the 95th-minute in the first half of extra time.

Anthony Martial had just seen Copenhagen goalie Karl-Johan Johnsson save his attempt once again. Second later, though, Martial had the ball again, until Andreas Bjelland took him down.

Referee Clement Turpin pointed to the place right away so we all know what happened next.

Bruno Fernandes stood forward and held the ball away from United’s 21st penalty of the season without doing his normal jump.

Bruno Fernandes took the lead and took the ball off from United’s 21st penalty of the term without doing his regular jump.

For the Red Devils, in reality, it appeared like it will just be one of those nights when they had a penalty decision and two goals chalked off by VAR.

They also hit the woodwork of Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes getting up near on a variety of occasions.

Although, Copenhagen threatened on the break with Rasmus Falk looking very dangerous.

In this season’s Danish Superliga Copenhagen finished second.

United must now face either Wolves or Seville in the last four.

To advance to the semi-finals ex-United forward Romelu Lukaku scored 2-1 as Inter defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the other quarter-final.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
