Manchester United claimed a third Premier League round victory over Wolves at the Molineux stadium with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane making their debut in the starting eleven. Mason Greenwood’s late goal helped Manchester United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) 1-0 in the Premier League’s football match on Sunday, breaking the record for the longest unbeaten run in English Football League history in the process.
Greenwood’s reduced strike was decisive as the Wolves missed several chances throughout the match, as United made it 28 undefeated in the league, breaking the record held by Arsenal between April 2003 and September 2004. Fernandes had a chance to score 38 minutes into the game but was clearly offside while receiving the ball from Pogba. The Reds improved significantly in the second half with some pressure on.
The home team threw everything at United early, with Raul Jimenez and Trincao moving closer, but the visitors somehow clinging to the break, without threatening an attack. After the break Wolves continued to be the better side with David de Gea making a remarkable double save to keep Romain Saiss’s close two attempts away.
A completely quiet start Jadon Sancho was replaced in the second half while United was looking for a winner, with young Greenwood, who finished third in as many games to snatch all three points. It was Mason Greenwood who scored a late winner just 9 minutes before the final whistle securing a very hard-earned away win for the Manchester side.
The Wolves were undisputed, a mistake was made by Paul Pogba during the winner, but nothing was awarded, as United scored nine to seven points so far this season and finished third in the standings, while Wolves went without any goal and the club is on the 18th position of the Premier League table.
