Manchester City will swap Jack Grealish to sign Portugal international. According to reports, Manchester City would be willing to swap Rafael Leao forwith AC Milan. According to the Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Pep Guardiola’s team is contemplating a remarkable swap deal to get the highly sought-after forward. Manchester City might be willing to give up their club-record acquisition in order to sign the much-desired Portugal international.
The idea of losing Rafael Leao in return for Jack Grealish, though, is said to be far from convincing to AC Milan. According to the Calcio Mercato article, Stefano Pioli’s team is opposed to the swap deal for two reasons.
The first is Jack Grealish’s hefty salary at Manchester City, which is far above the Rossoneri’s ability to pay. The former captain of Aston Villa makes almost €17 million annually at Etihad, and AC Milan is unlikely to be able to match that sum.
The second, more important factor is the age gap between Leao and Grealish, as well as how well they play on the field. Leao, who is only 23 years old, is still mostly in the developmental stage, whereas Jack Grealish, who is 27 years old, ought to be at his peak.
Rafael Leao has been among the greatest performers in Serie A while the Englishman has battled to live up to his £100 million price tag at Manchester City. The AC Milan team led by Stefano Piolo won the Serie A championship last season, ending an 11-year drought. The Portugal international was a major contributor.
The quick-footed attacker also won Serie A’s Footballer of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards for his accomplishments. This season, the Milan target for Manchester City has been on fire, recording seven goals and nine assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
