Before the coronavirus pandemic, Kai Havertz was reportedly expected to receive an offer of €80 m ( £ 71 m) from Real Madrid during the transfer window this summer.

Since the Bundesliga resumed last month, the 20-year-old has been in fine form for Bayer Leverkusen and has now scored 15 times in 38 appearances for his German club this term.

Manchester United retains to be linked with the German, which is assumed to be open to joining the side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer.

Madrid had planned to launch a €80 m (£71 m) offer for Havertz this summer and was prepared to allow the attacker to stay at the BayArena for another season, according to Bild.

Before the 2020-21 campaign, Zinedine Zidane’s side can no longer afford to sign the youngster due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak, claims reports.

It also credited Bayern Munich and Liverpool with an interest in German.
