Romelu Lukaku credited Cristiano Ronaldo for motivating him to find “another level” at Inter when the pair competed together in Serie A.

Lukaku led Inter to their first Scudetto in over a decade last season, scoring 24 league goals.

He returns to his former club Chelsea in a £97.5million (€115m) move ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Belgium international is yet to hit the same lofty heights at Stamford Bridge, finding the net just five times in 19 league appearances this season. Nevertheless, inter continue to acknowledge his efforts.

The Italian Footballers Association named Lukaku the 2020-21 Footballer of the Year.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo joined Chelsea Football Club man Lukaku in the Top 11 for the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 29 goals for Juventus before heading back to the Premier League.

The season’s team includes former Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Romelu Lukaku hailed the Portugal star for pushing him to achieve what he did at Inter.

Lukaku said:

“I want to thank everyone who voted for me, especially my teammates, because I think I couldn’t have made it without the team.

“We won together, and the coach was always next to the club and us and the fans.

“I did everything to achieve my dream of playing in Italy.

“Finding yourself in front of Cristiano Ronaldo does not often happen, because for me he is in the top three of the best players in the history of football, a player who took me to another level.

“This award gives me great confidence for the future.”
