Luis Suarez was told he could not “play at the top level” by Barcelona, before being sold to LaLiga title rivals Atletico Madrid.
On his bitter exit from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez announced that he had been told he was beyond his best.
Suarez has scored 16 goals in 20 league appearances this season, firing the side of Diego Simeone to the top of the LaLiga, and is the joint top goal scorer of the competition alongside former Barca teammate Lionel Messi.
“What really bothered me was that they told me that I was old and that I could no longer play at the top level, be up to a great team. That’s what displeased me,” Suarez told France Football.
