France and Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez was last week sentenced by a Madrid court to six months in prison for violating a restraining order following his 2017 conviction for domestic violence against his then-girlfriend and wife Amelia de la Osa Llorente. Hernandez appeared in court in Madrid on Monday and now has 10 days to voluntarily begin his six-month sentence.
The 25-year-old has received two previous criminal convictions in connection with the February 2017 incident. The defender was arrested by Spanish police in February 2017 while he was a player at football club Atletico Madrid, after a fight with his then-girlfriend, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Although neither filed a complaint against the other, both were sentenced to 31 days of community service and ordered not to be seen for six months by the Spanish prosecutor. Four months later, Hernandez was arrested in Madrid after traveling with his then-girlfriend, Osa Llorente, and violating a restraining order.
In December 2019, Hernandez, now at German football club FC Bayern Munich, was sentenced to six months in prison for violating a restraining order when he and Osa Llorente returned to Madrid after marrying in the United States Were.
