Liverpool Football Club has officially revealed their third kit for the 2021/22 season, the club’s press office reports. The kit is in yellow and red “inspired by the passion and energy of the Kop” with red-chequered flags that first illuminated the stadium at the 1977 European Cup final and pinstripes highlighting the strong connection between the club and its supporters.
“Liverpool FC has revealed its third and final kit for the 2021-22 season, drawing inspiration from the Kop, an iconic European night and a rich history of yellow change kits,” the club wrote in a statement published on their website.
On the nape of the neck, the 96 emblem encased by the eternal flames sits proudly in memory of those children, women and men who lost their lives at Hillsborough. Just like this season’s home and away kits, the third jersey made in collaboration with Nike has been constructed from recycled plastic.
Liverpool has swapped the full Red jersey with the Yellow and Red combination for the upcoming season. It is reported that the bold yellow jersey continues the club’s historic relationship and it quickly became part of the club’s regular alternate colour palette.
The new jersey is now available to pre-order on Liverpool online store and from September 21 it will go on general sale for in-store purchase. The club has also announced that “Fans who purchase any third shirt before September 26 will also receive a £10 Liverpool FC Retail voucher to spend in-store or online between November 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.”
