Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez will miss the Brighton game. Darwin Nunez might not be available for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League match. Darwin Nunez’s potential absence from Liverpool’s forthcoming encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion on January 14 has come as a blow due to an injury.
The forward has been absent from practice for the majority of the week, according to the Liverpool Echo. In addition, he wasn’t seen at training on Thursday before their weekend excursion. Even though the injury is regarded as mild, it raises questions about whether he will be able to play in the forthcoming Premier League match.
Even though he has put up outstanding stats, the Uruguayan has been a contentious figure since moving to England. In a recent FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves that ended in a 2-2 tie, he scored his tenth goal of the year. Cody Gakpo, who was acquired in January, might make his Premier League debut to replace Nunez’s absence.
Nunez is the most recent addition to the Reds’ extensive injury list; attackers Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Roberto Firmino still haven’t resumed training. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options will be limited against Brighton on Saturday.
The Reds must defeat Brighton in order to reduce their seven-point deficit to the league’s top four teams. Only one point separates Brighton from the Reds in the standings.
Along with Mohamed Salah and Gakpo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabio Carvalho, and Harvey Elliott will face off for the third attacking spot. Other parts of the pitch aren’t much better either, with summer loan signings Arthur Melo and Virgil van Dijk also out injured.
